AMBI Pictures, the international group whose partners are the producer Andrea Iervolino and the entrepreneur Monika Bacardi, announced today that it will produce a remake of director Christopher Nolan's film Memento.

Memento stars Guy Pierce, and tells the story of a man suffering from acute short-term memory loss who is unable to remember anything for more than a few minutes at a time.

In 2002, the film was nominated for Oscar Awards for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen and Best Film Editing.

Following the official announcement, Bacardi said: "Memento is a masterpiece that leaves audiences guessing not just throughout the film, but long after as well, which is a testament to its daring approach. We intend to stay true to Christopher Nolan's vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original. It's a big responsibility to deliver something that lives up to the mastery of the original, but we are extremely excited and motivated to bring this puzzle back to life and back into the minds of moviegoers."

In the United States, Memento is available on Blu-ray courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment. You can see our listing and review of this release here.
