Demonstrating once again that dinosaurs reign supreme, the home entertainment release of Jurassic World crushed industry records in its North American launch, generating $82.6 million in consumer spend across both physical and digital formats.

Previously shattering global box-office records to amass $1.6 billion worldwide and become the third-highest grossing film in history, the year's number-one blockbuster sold nearly three million units on Blu-ray and DVD in its first week of release, outselling this year's previous top competitive title debut by 25%.

Based on its record-smashing opening, the fourth installment of the unrivaled dinosaur franchise is now on pace to become the highest-selling, Blu-ray and DVD title of 2015, as well as the industry's biggest live-action Blu-ray title of all time and Universal's biggest digital release ever.

"The colossal success of Jurassic World across the globe speaks volumes about the great filmmaking and universal appeal of this very visceral, larger-than-life adventure," said UPHE President Eddie Cunningham. "Jurassic World's record-breaking home entertainment debut, alongside Furious 7's recent spectacular performance, squarely reinforces the ever-robust and enduring consumer demand to own great content, both physically and digitally."

In the United States, Jurassic World is cirrently available on 2D and 3D combo packs.
