Sun Microsystems, the leading developer of the Java programming language, has teamed up with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, Panasonic, and Ensequence to sponsor a BD-J development contest. Running through July 7th, the contest challengers developers to come up with the most out-of-the-box BD-J content they can think of using the Ensequence on-Q Create software suite (which will be provided at no cost to contestants for the 60-day contest period). Prizes include a Pioneer plasma TV and Fox Blu-ray movies.
"Blu-ray Discs provide a significant opportunity to take interactivity with movie lovers -- and for movie lovers -- to a whole new level and provide them with a more robust in-home entertainment experience," said Steve Feldstein, Senior Vice President, Corporate and Marketing Communications, TCFHE. "To this end, we're teaming with our partners on this contest to give the creative Java community access to the Ensequence product to help further realize the Blu-ray platform and develop the next great wave of disc producers."
