As a film, '
Transformers' was one of the highest grossing films of 2007, representing a departure from the standard superhero summer blockbusters that now seem to be permanently embossed on the silver screen. As a home video release, however, it will always represent a title that was unwillingly used to divide fans in a heated format war. But today, the troubled past of 'Transformers' can be wiped way, as the the title finally sees its Blu-ray release.
As our own Martin Liebman points out in his
review, Paramount pulled no punches and delivered an absolutely stunning high definition experience to fans. The greatest achievement of the film is likely its highly-detailed CGI heroes who are masterfully represented in glorious high definition. Audio also doesn't disappoint, with a dynamic Dolby TrueHD losses audio track. It is the film that Blu-ray fans have been waiting for, and it does not disappoint.
Warner Brothers decided today would be a good day to pad its ever growing high definition collection of catalog titles. Fans are treated with two Clint Eastwood films ('
Every Which Way But Loose' and '
The Gauntlet'), an Arnie flick ('
Eraser'), and a little Steven Segal ('
Under Siege 2') for good measure. Sure, these titles may not have been at the top of your want list, but can anyone really deny the greatness that is Clint Eastwood paired-up with an orangutan?
