At IFA, German electronics manufacturer Grundig has announced that they will release their first Blu-ray player this December in Europe. The
Grundig GDP 8800 BD will be BonusView (Profile v1.1) compatible and support decoding of all codecs except DTS-HD Master Audio, which it can bitstream to a compatible receiver.
It will have an HDMI connection with 24p support and 7.1 analog outs. Additionally, there is an Ethernet port which the company claims is for "future use". No word if this player will be upgradable to full BD-Live status with a possible future firmware update.
When the player is launched in December, it is expected to retail for €399.
