StudioCanal will release on Blu-ray Marcel Carné's
Thérèse Raquin a.k.a.
The Adultress (1953), starring Simone Signoret, Raf Vallone, Jacques Duby, Jean Sylvere, Maria Pia Casilio, and Marcel Andre. Recently restored in 2K, the film will be available for purchase on September 1.
Synopsis: Marcel Carne transposes Zola's dark tale of ennui and treachery to the post-WWII era. Simone Signoret stars in the title role as Therese, a young woman trapped in a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin Camille (Jacques Duby) and living with him in the home of his paralysed mother (Jean Sylvere). When she meets an acquaintance of Camille's, strapping truck driver Laurent (Raf Vallone), the two begin a secret affair - but jealousy and anger lead to tragic consequences for all three.
