Showtime has ordered a third season renewal for Penny Dreadful. The new nine-episode season, which will be based on a script by John Logan, is expected to air in 2016.
The season two finale will air on July 5.
Following the official announcement, Showtime Networks president David Nevins said: "John Logan's brilliant writing and this amazingly talented ensemble continue to draw a passionate, global fanbase into the meticulously crafted world of 'Penny Dreadful. Together with our wonderful partners at Sky Atlantic, we're excited to see what new haunts John and his team have in store for season three."
