Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World, which opened in multiple markets during the weekend, has set a global box office record. Internationally, the film generated $315.61M. In North America, the film generated $208.8M and broke the previous record set by The Avengers ($207.4M).
The impressive performance -- at the moment the combined international and domestic numbers put the film at $524.1M -- makes Jurassic World the first film ever to generate more than $500M in a single weekend.
Synopsis: Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce the long-awaited next installment of his groundbreaking Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World. Colin Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure based on the novel "Jurassic Park" by Michael Crichton. The screenplay is by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Trevorrow & Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley join the team as producers.
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.
