Universal Studios has confirmed that Tom Cruise's new collaboration with director Doug Liman,
Mena, will open in theaters across the United States on January 6, 2017.
Mena will tell the story of a pilot who lands work for the CIA and as a drug runner in the South during the 1980s.
Following the announcement, Liman said: "I love stories of improbable heroes working against the system, and Barry Seal (the pilot) took the government, and our country, for an unbelievable ride. Interpreting his story has the makings for an entertaining film that is equal parts satire, suspense and comedy—and always surprising."
