Acclaimed cinematographer Roger Deakins (
Sid and Nancy,
The Shawshank Redemption)
will work with Denis Villeneuve on the upcoming
Blade Runner sequel. The film will be produced by Alcon Entertainment, which acquired the rights to
Blade Runner in 2011.
Previously, Deakins and Villeneuve teamed up on
Prisoners (2013) and on the Palme d'Or nominated
Sicario (2015).
Harrison Ford will reprise his iconic role as Rick Deckard, while Ridley Scott will executive produce together with Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson from Alcon.
Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the script for the original film, and Michael Green (
Green Lantern) will be in charge with the script for the new film.
Shooting will begin in the summer of 2016.
