Texas-based distributors Well Go USA have acquired the North American distribution rights to acclaimed director Hou Hsiao-hsien's latest film The Assassin, starring Shu Qi, Chen Chang, and Satoshi Tsumabuki.
Following the official announcement, Well Go USA president and CEO Doris Pfardrescher said:
"We have a proud history of supporting films from Taiwan, and Hou Hsiao-hsien is a legend. It's like someone made a wish list, and we got everything we could have hoped for: iconic director, stellar cast, and this exciting, moving story – we're very excited to bring this to North America."
The Assassin will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival later this month.
