For the week that ended on May 3rd, the Weinstein Company's Paddington took the top spot on the Blu-ray and overall package-media lists. Director Paul King's whimsical family feature - an adaptation of author Michael Bond's beloved literary character - was a modest theatrical success last January. The film earned $258 million worldwide on top of an estimated $55-million budget, and it also enjoyed a decent critical reception (its Metacritic score stands at 77%). During its first week on all home media platforms, Paddington had a Blu-ray market share of 44%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Taken 3. The most recent installment in the Taken franchise, this Liam Neeson-starring actioner performed well at the box office despite poor critical notices (it currently has a Metacritic score of 26%); to date, Taken 3 has grossed more than $325 million worldwide on top of a $48-million budget. On the Blu-ray-only ranking, Taken 3 sold 39% as many Blu-rays as Paddington and had an HD market share of 33%.

Finally, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Wedding Ringer rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only list. This raunchy comedy netted Sony a solid profit, albeit one not as high as the popularity of the film's star, comedian Kevin Hart, might have suggested, earning $64 million domestically on top of its estimated $23-million budget. The Wedding Ringer sold 37% as many Blu-ray copies as Paddington and had a Blu-ray market share of 39%. On the overall package-media chart, however, a Universal title, the thriller The Boy Next Door, came in third place, pushing The Wedding Ringer into fourth.
