Houston-based anime distributor Section23 Films and Sentai Filmworks have announced the acquisition of director Toyoo Ashida and writer Yasushi Hirano's
Vampire Hunter D (1985), a landmark film in the history of Japanese animation. A Blu-ray release is expected to be detailed in the coming weeks and street late summer/early fall 2015.
The first in a series of films adapted from the light novels of the legendary Hideyuki Kikuchi,
Vampire Hunter D depicts a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland where pain and suffering run rampant, where vampires and their prey roam the earth.
