For the week that ended on April 5th, Paramount and Warner Home Entertainment's Interstellar scored the top position on the Blu-ray and overall package-media lists. Director Christopher Nolan's blockbuster space epic ultimately proved successful for its two studios; while Interstellar's domestic gross was fairly modest ($188 million earned on top of an estimated $165-million budget), as was its critical reception (an average 74% Metacritic score), the film's $484-million international total helped boost its earning power. During its first week on all home media platforms, Interstellar had a strong Blu-ray market share of 70%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Warner Bros. and New Line Home Entertainment's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The final installment in the recent Hobbit trilogy, director Peter Jackson's prequel to his Academy Award-winning Lord of the Rings Trilogy has performed well at the box office; to date, The Battle of the Five Armies has grossed more than $955 million worldwide. On the Blu-ray-only ranking, The Battle of the Five Armies sold 39% as many Blu-rays as Interstellar and had an HD market share of 48%.

Finally, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Big Hero 6 rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. Inspired by the cult Marvel Comics property of the same name, the animated hit brought the Mouse House commercial and critical praise following its release in November of last year. In addition to its worldwide box-office gross of over $572 million (on top of an estimated $165-million production budget), the film was also this year's Academy Award-winner for Best Animated Feature. Big Hero 6 sold 34% as many Blu-ray copies as Interstellar and had a Blu-ray market share of 52%.
