Jim Morrison lives! Well, at least on Blu-ray. Today, Lionsgate Home Entertainment releases the Oliver Stone film '
The Doors', an accurate (or not so accurate, depending on who you ask) depiction of the rise and fall of The Lizard King. Regardless how dramatized the story may have become, the film presents an inside look into one of the most influential rock bands of their time.
Best of all, Lionsgate has provided viewers with a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack that encompasses the viewer with some of the greatest hits from 'The Doors'.
Sony brings us their "Actionfest" with four films from action stars of the past. '
7 Seconds' (Wesley Snipes), '
Half Past Dead' (Steven Seagal), '
Maximum Risk' (Jean-Claude Van Damme), and '
XXX: State of the Union' (Ice Cube) all see Blu-ray release today. With not a one of these titles able to reach 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, these releases are best for fans only. If you have never heard of these films, there is a good reason for that.
And finally, Fox has done something that has totally confused me. After releasing the highly praised '
Prison Break: Season One', they skipped the second season and today release '
Prison Break: Season Three'. I inquired as to when fans might see the second season in high definition, and I was told there are no current plans. Fox releases some truly outstanding Blu-ray titles, but the skipping of season two, in my opinion, is a huge mistake.
After a month off, Disney returns next week with some new releases, and the exciting fourth quarter is right around the corner.
