Sony Pictures announced today that the third
Smurfs film will open in theaters across the United States on March 31, 2017. Currently, the film does not have an official title.
The untitled
Smurfs film will be directed by Kelly Asbury, whose credits include
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002),
Shrek 2 (2004), and
Gnomeo & Juliet (2011). It will be produced by Jordan Kerner.
The voice cast is expected to be announced later this year.
