Independent U.S. distributors Cinema Libre have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray Everardo Valerio Gout's film Days of Grace (2011), starring Carlos Bardem, Kristyan Ferrer, and Tenoch Huerta. The release will be available for purchase on May 5.
Days of Grace is a winner of eight Ariel Awards (the Mexican equivalent of the Oscars), including Best First Work, Best Actor (Tenoch Huerta), Best Cinematography (Luis David Sansans), and Best Score.
Official synopsis: Corruption, kidnapping, and vigilante justice fuel this explosive debut by Mexican filmmaker Everardo Gout. Set in Mexico City during three consecutive World Cup tournaments, three lives impacted by abduction, intersect. Lupe (Tenoch Huerta), an idealistic cop, is tasked to investigate a crime ring and finds that justice has no value when a human life has a price. When Susana's (Dolores Heredia) businessman-husband is taken, she must go outside the law to fight for his release. And Iguana (Krstyan Ferrer) is conflicted as he dreams of becoming a boxer even as he is drawn into a lifestyle that finds him guarding kidnap Victim X (Carlos Bardem) and facing down a criminal mastermind.
Music by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Leopolo Ross, Claudia Sarne, and Shigeru Umebayashi, as well as Massive Attack's "3D" with Scarlett Johansson on vocals in a remix of George Gershwin's iconic song, Summertime.
