Disney has announced that its remake of the classic
Beauty and the Beast will open in theaters across the United States on March 17, 2017.
The cast includes Emma Watson, who has been cast as Belle, Emma Thompson, who will play Mrs Potts, and Kevin Kline, who will play Maurice. Additionally, Dan Stevens has been cast as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, and Josh Gad as LeFou.
The film will be shot in 3D.
Bill Condon (
Twilight films,
Dreamgirls) will direct. The soundtrack will be created by Alan Menken, who won two Oscar Awards for the 1991 animated version.
Shooting is set to begin at Shepperton Studios in May.
