Acorn Media has announced the Blu-ray release of
New Worlds, a historical drama set in the 1680's that follows the fortunes of four young people. The four-part miniseries stars Jamie Dornan, Freya Mavor, Joe Dempsie, Alice Englert and Jeremy Northam, and arrives on Blu-ray on June 30th.
Synopsis: A ruthless king smashes opponents with an iron fist. Forbidden love blooms between an outlaw and a lady. And an untamed frontier simmers with intrigue, greed, and murder.
New Worlds follows the lives of four young people caught in a clash between England's autocratic King Charles II (Northam) and rebels fighting for freedom and reform.
In England, rebel Abe (Dornan) sparks a secret affair with the aristocratic Beth (Mavor) and enlists her help to stoke opposition to the king. In Massachusetts, Ned Hawkins (Dempsie), the son of a land baron, falls for plucky frontierswoman Hope (Englert), but their love affair is swept up by conflicts between Indians, ruthless settlers, and agents of the crown.
New Worlds sets political intrigue, action-packed adventure, and passionate romance against the historical backdrop of the Restoration, all brought to life in stunning location shoots and rich cinematography.
