So, do you have a
bug problem? The biggest release this week has to be the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment release of '
Starship Troopers', a film that has gained cult status by way of a strong fan following. Its difficult to recommend this film to those who haven't seen it, but to those who hold this title as a personal favorite - and there are a lot of you - its an easy pick-up.
Underdog of the week goes to another Sony release: '
The Counterfeiters'. This German title is based on the true story of Salomon Sorowitsch, a successful counterfeiter who, after being detained during WWII, is sent to a Nazi prison camp. There he is forced to print foreign currency for the German war effort or risk the lives of all those in his same situation. Its an excellent disc and I highly recommend that anyone who is into history or foreign films check it out.
Its actually a very big week for TV in high definition, as the BBC releases its high definition documentary '
Wild China' and the critically acclaimed series '
Robin Hood: Season One'. Also, western fans will be happy to hear that the TV miniseries '
Lonesome Dove' is also being released today on Blu-ray.
