Independent distributors Well Go USA have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray
Brotherhood of Blades, the critically-acclaimed, action-packed sophomore effort from Director Lu Yang (
My Spectacular Theatre) featuring Taiwanese superstar Chang Chen (
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Red Cliff). The release will be available for purchase on February 10, 2015.
The period film is set in the late Ming Dynasty, where a young emperor is determined to take down the all-powerful eunuch Wei and purge his supporters. Caught in the midst of the intrigue are three lowly, cash-strapped warriors from the Imperial Assassins, the secret police, who are given the orders to find and kill Wei.
Brotherhood of Blades also stars Ye Qing (Man of Tai Chi), Chin Shih-chieh (Reign of Assassins, My Spectacular Theatre), Wang Qianyuan (The Golden Era), Li Dongxue, Nie Yuan (The Lost Bladesman), Zhao Lixin (Silent Witness), Qiao Lei, Yang Yi, Gu Dian, Ye Xiangming, and Yang Xiaobo.
The sword-wielding drama was nominated for four Golden Horse Awards in 2014, including Best Actor (Chang Chen), Best Supporting Actor (Chin Shih-chieh), and Best Action Choreography (Sang Lin), taking home the award for Best Makeup & Costume Design (Tingting Liang).
