For the week that ended on November 16th, Dreamworks and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's How to Train Your Dragon 2 hit the top spot on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. This sequel to the 2010 surprise hit How to Train Your Dragon had a fairly successful performance when the picture premiered last June. After receiving positive critical acclaim (it has a Metacritic score of 76%), the film grossed over $618 million worldwide on top of its estimated $145-million budget. Last week, How to Train Your Dragon 2 had a Blu-ray market share of 52%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Maleficent. Following its March premiere, this fantasy advantage proved a surprise smash, riding the popularity of star Angelina Jolie to box-office success. While critics were lukewarm on the film (its Metacritic score is 56%), audiences responded to the film to the tune of $757 million worldwide on top of its estimated $180-million budget. On the Blu-ray-only ranking, Maleficent sold 34% as many Blu-rays as How to Train Your Dragon 2 (and garnered an HD market share of 49%). On the overall package-media chart, the film moved 37% as many units as the animated adventure.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's Tammy rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. A raunchy road comedy, Tammy afforded Melissa McCarthy a showcase that critics largely eschewed last July. Although its critical notices weren't spectacular - it has a Metacritic score of 39% - the comedy grossed over $84 million domestically on top of a budget of only $20 million. On the Blu-ray-only lists, Tammy sold 16% as many Blu-rays as How to Train Your Dragon 2 and had an HD market share of 29%. Regarding its overall package-media figures, the film sold 29% as many total units as How to Train Your Dragon 2.
