Over the past few weeks, Warner Home Video has been absolutely pummeled by our forum members for the use of BD-25s and 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtracks on upcoming catalog releases. While there is nothing wrong with using BD-25s for some material, the length of these movies combined with the expansive amount of bonus features would certainly result in some loss in video quality.
And Dolby Digital 5.1 is certainly no Dolby TrueHD.
Warner has heard your cries and, according to our good friend Bill Hunt of
The Digital Bits, Warner wants to reassure Blu-ray fans that the upcoming catalog releases of '
Blow' and '
L.A. Confidential' will both be presented on BD-50s with Dolby TrueHD soundtracks. Apparently, there was some miscommunication between the development department and the press department. That issue has been resolved and efforts are underway to fix press material. We have updated the specs in our database to reflect this new information.
