Marvel has approached Benedict Cumberbatch to play the iconic Doctor Strange. According to Deadline, which broke the news today, official negotiations are about to begin.
Scott Derrickson will directed Marvel's upcoming film, while Jon Spaihts will write the script for it. Currently, Doctor Strange is set to open in theaters across the United States on July 8, 2016.
Cumberbatch's credits include The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, The Imitation Game, 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
