For the week that ended on October 5th, Paramount Home Entertainment's Transformers: Age of Extinction took the top spot on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. This action extravaganza - the fourth film in director Michael Bay's Transformers franchise - proved a massive hit with audiences this past summer. The film grossed over $1 billion worldwide on top of its projected $210 million budget, and these earnings came on the heels of less-than-enthusiastic critical notices; on Metacritic, Age of Extinction mustered a 32% approval rating. Last week, the film had a strong Blu-ray market share of 63%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only chart wasUniversal Studios' Neighbors. This raunchy comedy was one of Summer 2014's biggest box-office successes; the estimated $18-million feature grossed almost fifteen times as much as that worldwide - $268 million, with over $150 million coming exclusively from the domestic market. On the Blu-ray-only list, Neighbors sold 7% as many copies as Transformers: Age of Extinction and had an HD market share of 33%. On the overall package-media list, the film sold 13% as many total units as the Mark Wahlberg-starring actioner.

Finally, Disney and Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only sales list. This sequel to the 2011 hit Captain America: The First Avenger has proven itself one of Marvel's most successful theatrical properties. The superhero actioner has a 70% Metacritic score, and it grossed over $714 million worldwide on top of its estimated $170 million budget. On the Blu-ray-only ranking, Captain America: The Winter Soldier sold 5% as many Blu-rays as Age of Extinction (and garnered a solid HD market share of 51%). On the overall package-media chart, The Winter Soldier came in at fifth place - below The Fault in Our Stars and Godzilla, respectively - and moved 6% as many copies as Age of Extinction.
