Carlotta Films Details Orson Welles' Macbeth and Othello

French label Carlotta Films has detailed its upcoming Blu-ray releases of Orson Welles' Macbeth (1948) and Othello (1952). The two releases will be available individually and in a collector's box set. Street date is November 5th.

Yesterday, the new 2K restoration of Macbeth was officially introduced in select theaters across France.

Macbeth

Synopsis: In fog-dripping, barren and sometimes macabre settings, 11th-century Scottish nobleman Macbeth is led by an evil prophecy and his ruthless yet desirable wife to the treasonous act that makes him king.

Orson Welles' Othello

Synopsis: Orson Welles directed and starred in this version of Shakespeare's famous tragedy. Filmed on a shoestring budget over two years, Welles strips the famous tale of sexual jealousy and betrayal down to its essentials, casting himself as the tragic Moor. Winner of the 1952 Best Picture Award at Cannes. Starring starring Micheál MacLiammóir, Robert Coote, Suzanne Cloutier, and Orson Welles. Newly restored in 2K.
