Warner Brothers Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures announced today that Clint Eastwood's latest project, American Sniper, will open in select theaters across the United States on Christmas Day. The film will then expand wide on January 16, 2015.
The film is based on Navy SEAL Chris Kyle's novel American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. Kyle, who earned two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars with Valor in Iraq, was one of the deadliest snipers in American history, with 160 confirmed kills from 255 claimed kills. He was killed in North Texas by a fellow veteran in 2013.
Eastwood directed and produced the film with Andrew Lazar (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind). The cast includes Bradley Cooper, Luke Grimes, Sienna Miller, Kyle Gallner, Jake McDorman, Max Charles, and Sam Jaeger.
