Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is bringing producer Joseph L. Mankiewicz and director Edwin L. Marin's
A Christmas Carol to Blu-ray. The 1938 adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic stars Reginald Owen, Gene Lockhart, Kathleen Lockhart, Terry Kilburn, Barry Mackay and Lynne Carver, and makes its Blu-ray debut on November 11th.
Synopsis: On Christmas Eve, in mid-nineteenth century London, the miserly, hardhearted Ebenezer Scrooge (Owen) considers Christmas a humbug. Although he gives his underpaid clerk Bob Cratchit (Gene Lockhart) the day off, he later fires him when the meek Bob mistakenly pelts him with a snowball. Bob does not tell his wife (Kathleen Lockhart), though, and buys the family's hoped for Christmas feast. The Cratchits are happy, though poor, with their one sorrow the health of Tiny Tim (Kilburn), their crippled youngest child. As the Cratchits and Scrooge's nephew Fred (MacKay) enjoy Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the chained shade of Jacob Marley (Leo G. Carroll), Scrooge's late partner, who warns Scrooge that he must change his ways. He also tells Scrooge that three ghosts will visit him that night: the Spirit of Christmas Past, the Spirit of Christmas Present, and the frightful Spirit of Christmas Future.
