Leos Carax Collection

Boy Meets Girl

The directorial debut of France's 'Enfant terrible', Leos Carax, features a darkly comic, gentle love story which involves two strangers who are destined to meet after their relationships break down. Starring Denis Lavant, Mireille Perrier, and Carroll Brooks.

The Night is Young (Mauvais Sang)

Petty thief and street hustler Alex (Denis Lavant) plots to steal a new miracle cure for an AIDS-like virus on behalf of his gangster friend Marc (Michel Piccoli). But this attracts the notice of a mysterious American woman who also wants the serum. One of the most notable films of the 80s, this dazzlingly inventive mix of off-beat romance and sci-fi thriller cemented Carax's reputation as one of the most exciting directors in the world. Starring Juliette Binoche, Denis Lavant, Michel Piccoli, Julie Delpy, Hans Meyer, and Carroll Brooks.

Holy Motors

Leos Carax directs this surrealist French drama starring Denis Lavant, Kylie Minogue and Eva Mendes. Monsieur Oscar (Lavant) is a man of many identities. Driven around Paris by his chauffeur, Celine (Edith Scob), he makes use of an elaborate dressing room in his limousine to assume the appearance and identity of a number of different figures. At various points throughout the day Oscar is a businessman, a beggar, an assassin, a father and an old woman, venturing out into the world to engage with others in each role and embarking on bizarre adventures that include kidnapping a beautiful model, Kay (Mendes). What is at the root of Oscar's extraordinary behaviour?

Mr. X

The image of a mysterious, solitary filmmaker - a cineaste maudit - who flees from both the media and the public, is unrelentingly bound to the figure of Leos Carax, in France. Elsewhere, the real focus is on his films and he is considered to be an icon of world cinema. Mr.X dives into the poetic and visionary world of an artist who was already a cult figure from his very first film. Punctuated by interviews and unseen footage, this documentary is most of all a fine-tuned exploration of the poetic and visionary world of Leos Carax, alias "Mr.X".

STREET DATE: DECEMBER 8TH.
