Disney announced today that
Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will open in theaters across the United States on July 7, 2017. The film will be directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
Jeff Nathanson (
Catch Me If You Can,
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) will write the script for the upcoming film.
The last film in the franchise,
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
