Amazon Japan has revealed that, during the first half of 2008, Blu-ray sales dramatically increased over the previous year, with anime titles giving the biggest push, representing five of the top 10 Blu-ray titles. On top of the list was Sony Pictures' '
Resident Evil: The High Definition Trilogy', which significantly outperformed its DVD counterpart.
The popular online store commented, "Many software manufactures consider that 'action' is the genre that can make the most of BD. The BD share is expected to grow among new titles especially in this genre from now on."

Also not surprisingly, many of the best selling titles in Japan are also best sellers in the US.
