British distributors Artificial Eye have detailed their upcoming Blu-ray releases of Francois Truffaut's
The 400 Blows,
The Soft Skin,
Stolen Kisses, and
Bed and Board. The four releases will be available for purchase in August.
The 400 Blows
Francois Truffaut's semi-autobiographical first feature stars Jean-Pierre Léaud as Antoine Doinel, an unruly young Parisian whose unhappiness leads him into trouble. Frequently running away from school and home, Antoine spends much of his time playing with his friends on the steets of the city; but events take a more serious turn when an accusation of plagiarism leads him to quit school and the theft of a typewriter lands him in trouble with the police. Léaud was to reprise his role as Doinel in four further Truffaut-directed adventures: 'Antoine et Colette' (1962), 'Baiser volés' (1968), 'Domicile conjugal' (1970), and 'Love on the Run' (1979).

The Soft Skin
French New Wave auteur Francois Truffaut directs this study of a Parisian affair. Jean Desailly stars as Pierre Lachenay, a successful middle-aged novelist and broadcaster who begins an affair with Nicole (Francoise Dorleac), a pretty young air hostess he meets on a flight to Lisbon while en route to deliver a lecture. Despite having little in common with Nicole, Pierre is enraptured and continues the affair on his return to France. But when his wife Franca (Nelly Benedetti) discovers his infidelity, she becomes consumed with a desire for revenge, and a tragic denouement unfolds.

Stolen Kisses
François Truffaut directs this madcap romantic comedy set in 1960s Paris. The third in a series of five films, the movie features Truffaut's cinematic alter-ego Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud) who, having received a dishonourable discharge from the army at the age of 20, works his way through a number of unsatisfactory jobs and transient relationships.

François Truffaut's filmic alter ego, Antoine Doinel (first seen in 'Les Quatre Cents Coups'), is once again the subject in this fourth of a series of five films. Antoine experiences the early years of marriage, and faces fatherhood and adultery with a beautiful Japanese girl.
