FUNimation Entertainment has acquired distribution rights to Studio Gonzo and director Fuminori Kizaki's full-length animated feature
Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. The film is based on the popular
Bayonetta videogame franchise and is produced by the team responsible for
Afro Samurai Resurrection. FUNimation also announced that a Blu-ray release will be available later this year.
Bloody Fate faithfully captures the extreme action and sexiness of the original
Bayonetta videogame, crafting a storyline that expands and further establishes the world of the sexy, shape shifting witch. Director Fuminori Kizaki will be making an appearance as a guest of honor at this year's Anime Expo in Los Angeles, July 3-6 where a "sneak peek" of the English dub of
Bayonetta: Bloody Fate will be shown for fans at the convention, along with a special Q&A with Director Kizaki following on Saturday, July 5th.
FUNimation has yet to reveal a street date, tech specs or special features.
