Sony Plan First Combo Blu-ray Drive

Sony has announced that they will introduce their first Blu-ray combo drive for Taiwan this July. The drive, which is expected to retail for around NT$7000 ($230 USD), will have the ability to both read Blu-ray discs, including Blu-ray movies, as well as burn DVD and CD media. No technical specs have been revealed at this time.
Retailers currently question the necessity of a Blu-ray combo drive, as the price of buying separate Blu-ray read and DVD writer drives is still cheaper than buying a single combo drive.
