Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is bringing writer/director Cameron Crowe's
Vanilla Sky to Blu-ray. The 2001 remake of Spanish filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar's
Abre los ojos (
Open Your Eyes, 1997) stars Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Penélope Cruz, Kurt Russell, Jason Lee and Noah Taylor, and makes its Blu-ray debut on October 14th.
Synopsis: Womanizing playboy David Ames (Tom Cruise) finds romantic redemption when he falls in love with his best friend's girlfriend, Sofia (Penelope Cruz, reprising her role from the original film). Before that relationship can begin, however, David is coaxed into a car driven by a suicidal ex-lover, Julie (Cameron Diaz). Driving her car off a bridge, Julie kills herself and horribly disfigures David. Reconstructive surgery and the loving support of Sofia seem to reverse David's luck, but eerie incidents soon leave him questioning his control over his life, all while he is suspected of complicity in Julie's death.
The Blu-ray edition of
Vanilla Sky arrives as part of Warner Bros. 600+ title distribution deal with Paramount. The studio has yet to detail tech specs or special features.
