Starz's Outlander Gets Official Premiere Date

Starz has officially announced that the highly anticipated epic drama Outlander will premiere on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The 16-episode series is based on the international bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon and is executive produced by Ron Moore (Battlestar Galactica).

Starz also unveiled the official poster for Outlander, which is attached below.

Season One synopsis: Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Gary Lewis, Graham McTavish, Duncan Lacroix, Lotte Verbeek, and Nell Hudson.
