Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are set to executive produce a new Flinstones film for Warner Brothers. According to early reports, Chris Henchy (The Campaign, The Other Guys) will write the script for the upcoming animated film.
Previously Seth MacFarlane (Ted, A Million Ways to Die in the West) was working on a similar TV reboot, but the project was abandoned.
In 1994, Brian Levant directed The Flintstones with John Goodman, Rick Moranis, Rosie O'Donnell, Kyle MacLachlan, Halle Berry, Elizabeth Taylor, Jonathan Winters. The film was executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Gerald R. Molen, Kathleen Kennedy, William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, and David Kirschner. In 2000, Levant also directed The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas. Both films were distributed by Universal Studios.
