Universal has hired screenwriters Mark and Brian Gunn (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) to write the script for the upcoming remake of Timecop. According to early reports, Marc Shmuger from Global Produce will produce the remake, while Mike Richardson of Dark Horse will serve as an executive producer.
The original Timecop film was directed by Peter Hyams (Outland) in 1994. It stars Jean-Claude Van Damme, Mia Sara, Ron Silver, and Gloria Reuben. A direct-to-video sequel titled Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision was also produced in 2003.
