HBO has renewed
Game of Thrones for a fifth and sixth season. The announcement was made earlier today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming.
Game of Thrones: Season 4 premiered last weekend and set a new record -- approximately 6.6 million viewers tuned in to watch the show's opening episode, making it the most watched GoT episode ever.
Following the official announcement Lombardo said: "
Game of Thrones is a phenomenon like no other. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling."
