MPI/Dark Sky Films are planning to release in theaters across the United States a brand new 4K restoration of director Tobe Hooper's classic horror film
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), starring Marilyn Burns, Edwin Neal, and Allen Danziger. The new 4K restoration will be introduced at the The South by Southwest Film Festival this coming Monday.
While discussing the new restoration with Entertainment Weekly director Hooper noted: "It's great on the big screen. It's in 7.1 sound that completely wraps around you and in 4K [resolution]. The film works as well, if not better, than it originally did."

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was done at NOLO Digital Film in Chicago and was overseen by Todd Wieneke of Dark Sky Films.
The new 4K restoration will be arrive in theaters across the United States later this Summer.
