Independent British distributors Arrow Video have confirmed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray the Stray Cat Rock films. All five classic exploitation films, starring Meiko Kaji, will arrive on the UK market later this year.
Stray Cat Rock: Delinquent Girl Boss
Pop singer Akiko Wada heads the distaff bikers in this episode, with the gang involved in rigging boxing matches until the yakuza intervenes by killing Wada. Her assistant (Meiko Kaji) takes over the gang, which then gets revenge on the mobsters. Good-looking and fast-paced, this film and its sequels are typical of Nikkatsu Studios' slick output before they dedicated themselves to erotica as the decade progressed. Stray Cat Rock: Wild Jumbo
The second film to come out of the popular Stray Cat Rock series. In a tale of youthful rebellion and cool action, six "stray cats" prepare themselves for a 30 million yen heist. Starring Meiko Kaji, Takeo Chii, and Tatsuya Fuji. Directed by Toshiya Fujita.
Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter
Hard-as-nails Meiko Kaji is the leader of a gang of vicious teenage schoolgirls who get their kicks with gang fights, street muggings, and rock and roll. Yasuharu Hasebe's in-your-face style harkens forward to such current films as Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, and Robert Rodriguez's Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Also starring Tatsuya Fuji, Mie Hanabusa, Nobuko Aoiki, and Jiro Okazaki. Directed by Yasuharu Hasebe.
Stray Cat Rock: Machine Animal
In this episode, the Alleycats help a pair of American soldiers who get framed on charges of drug trafficking by helping them escape to Sweden. Starring Meiko Kaji, Tatsuya Fuji, Noriko Kurosawa, and Bunjaku Han. Directed by Yasuharu Hasebe. (Synopsis courtesy of Robert Firsching).

The final film in the popular exploitation series. The all-girl motorcycle gang known as the Alleycats have become hippies by this time, living in a commune in Shijiku. Their leader, once again played by Meiko Kaji, is involved with a gangster's son, who spurns the ways of the yakuza, leading his father to take drastic action.
