Disney, Lucasfilm and Netflix announced today that the 13-episode final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, dubbed "The Lost Missions," will make its debut on Netflix on March 7th. A Blu-ray release is expected to follow later this year.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season Six Synopsis: The Lost Missions brings the Emmy Award-winning animated series' saga to its dramatic conclusion. The 13-episode season finds the Jedi Order reeling from a rift in the Force caused by Ahsoka Tano's shocking departure and the growing menace of Sith Lords and apprentices throughout the various systems. The future of an entire galaxy hangs in the balance.
A preview clip from "The Lost Missions," featuring Tom Kane's Yoda communicating with the spirit of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn for the first time, can be found below. The ability of some Jedi to speak with the living from the afterlife will be one of the decades-old Star Wars mysteries answered in The Clone Wars' sixth season.
Lucasfilm also released a new look at the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels animated series, which is set to premiere on the Disney Channel and Disney XD this summer. Early reports indicate a Season One Blu-ray release is on the horizon, presumably arriving sometime in 2015.
Star Wars: Rebels Synopsis: The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV, an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Among the new rebels is Kanan, a survivor of the Emperor's Jedi purge.
