Explosive Media: Vidor, Sturges, Ritchie, Fraker, and Mann Films Coming Up

Swiss label Explosive Media has informed us that it plans to add a number of exciting titles to its Blu-ray catalog. Amongst them are King Vidor's classic western Man Without a Starr (1955), John Sturges' Backlash (1956), Michael Ritchie's Prime Cut (1972), and William A. Fraker's Monte Walsh (1970).

John Sturges' 1956 western sees Jim Slater (Widmark) searching for the sole survivor from the Apache ambush at Gila Valley, in which his father died. On his travels, he comes across Karyl Orton (Reed) who is also looking for answers into the disappearance of her husband. However, complications occur as they find themselves in danger in the Arizona desert. Based on a script by by master western screenwriter Borden Chase (Winchester 73, Vera Cruz, The Far Country, Night Passage...), and starring Richard Widmark, Donna Reed, and William Campbell.

Man Without a Star

STREET DATE: FEBRUARY 28TH

1950s western drama starring Kirk Douglas as wandering cowboy Dempsey Rae. Along with his friend, Jeff Jimson (William Campbell), Rae finds work at Triangle Ranch, owned by the ambitious Miss Reed Bowman (Jeanne Crain). When Rae discovers Bowman's plan to expand her territory by cutting off the land belonging to other ranchers, he decides to pull out of his employment but he inevitably finds himself caught up in a ranch war with Jimson on the opposing side.

Monte Walsh
