For the week that ended on February 9th, Paramount's Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa rose to the top of the Blu-ray-only media ranking. Despite mediocre critical notices - the film had a Metacritic grade of 54% - the raunchy, semi-improvised farce netted Paramount a huge profit. Bad Grandpa cost an estimated $15 million, yet it earned over $102 million in the domestic market alone, with another $47 million coming from foreign totals. Last week, the film had a Blu-ray market share of 51%, which is four points higher than its previous HD market share.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only sales ranking was Summit and Lionsgate's Escape Plan. This prison-break thriller, which paired action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger together in leading roles, struggled to find an audience in North America last fall; it only grossed $25 million domestically, though its foreign totals were much stronger at over $112 million. So far, its initial showing on home media markets has been more promising. On the Blu-ray-only list, Escape Plan sold almost as many copies as Bad Grandpa - 93% as many discs - and had a Blu-ray market share of 36%. Regarding the overall package media figures, Escape Plan actually outperformed Bad Grandpa, coming in at number one (at number two, Bad Grandpa sold 76% as many total units as it).

Finally, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only media chart. The sequel to the 2009 surprise hit Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was a solid success with audiences last fall - it grossed over $260 million worldwide on top of its $78-million production budget. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 sold 64% as many Blu-rays as Bad Grandpa and had a 38% HD market share. On the overall package-media sales chart, the animated comedy came in fourth place (behind Free Birds) and sold 65% as many total units as Escape Plan.
