For the week that ended on February 2nd, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 rose to the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall media rankings. This animated comedy - the sequel to the 2009 surprise hit Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - was a solid success with audiences last fall - it grossed over $260 million worldwide on top of its $78-million production budget. Last week, the film had a Blu-ray market share of 50%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall media sales rankings was Paramount's Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Despite mediocre critical notices - Bad Grandpa scored a Metacritic grade of 54% - the raunchy, semi-improvised farce netted the studio a huge profit. Bad Grandpa cost an estimated $15 million, yet it earned over $102 million in the domestic market alone, with another $47 million coming from foreign totals. On the Blu-ray-only sales list, Bad Grandpa sold 58% as many discs as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 and had a Blu-ray market share of 47%, and on the overall package media list, it sold 62% as many units as the Bill Hader-starring family entertainment.

Finally, another Sony feature - the nostalgic comedy Last Vegas - rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray and overall package media charts. The latest film from National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub, Last Vegas packaged cinema icons Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Kline into a reasonably successful screen venture; the modestly budgeted picture - it cost an estimated $28 million - grossed over $121 million worldwide. Last Vegas sold 31% as many Blu-rays as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 and had a 39% HD market share. Regarding the film's overall package-media sales figures, Last Vegas sold 39% as many total units as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.
