Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of two more westerns, each starring John Wayne: director Burt Kennedy's
The War Wagon (1967) and director Stuart Millar's
Rooster Cogburn (the 1975 sequel to 1969's
True Grit). The duo arrive on Blu-ray on April 1st.
The War Wagon
Official Synopsis: John Wayne plays Taw Jackson, a range-hardened rancher who's hell-bent on capturing the infamous War Wagon, an ironclad stagecoach owned by a thieving cattle baron who robbed Taw of his gold years before. To get even, Jackson recruits a brash gunslinger named Lomax (Kirk Douglas) and a raucous crew of misfits and readies them to pull off one of the most impossible heists of all time.

True Grit's Rooster Cogburn. Katharine Hepburn joins him as Eula Goodnight, a missionary who pairs up with the grizzled gunfighter to avenge the death of her father. While in pursuit of the outlaws, a tenderhearted relationship develops between the rough-and-tumble lawman and the flinty reverend's daughter as they join forces to secure justice in the untamed west.
