The British Film Institute has released a brand new trailer for director Louis Malle's classic film
Elevator to the Gallows a.k.a
Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (1958), starring Jeanne Moreau, Maurice Ronet, Georges Poujouly, Yori Bertin, and Jean Wall. The film will open in select cinemas across the United Kingdom on February 7th.
A black comedy/thriller where a crime of passion goes horribly wrong as the killer gets trapped in a lift.His lover, Jeanne Moreau, the victim's wife, is out searching for him in Paris. Meanwhile a young hood and his girl steal the killer's car and he unwittingly gets involved in another crime. This was Louis Malle's first film as director and it partly set the tone for the 'new wave' to come. Notable for its famous jazz score, improvised in one night by Miles Davis while the film was being projected. (Distributed in the United Kingdom as
