French label Carlotta Films has revealed a large list of titles that will enter its catalog in 2014. Amongst them are a number of films which have already been pre-announced for Blu-ray release, including Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine (1998), John Carpenter's Dark Star (1974), Joe Dante's The 'Burbs (1989), and legendary director Fritz Lang's Secret Beyond the Door (1947) and Max Ophüls' Letter from an Unknown Woman (1948).
Other titles on Carlotta Films' list include Ivan Passer's Cutter's Way (1981), Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy (1982), Orson Welles' Macbeth (1948), and Koreyoshi Kurahara's Antarctica (1983).
In addition to releasing films on Blu-ray and DVD in France, Carlotta Films also distribute theatrically classic and contemporary films.
Earlier this year, the Paris-based label also launched a U.S. distribution company, Carlotta Films U.S. The first two films from its catalog to be screened theatrically in the U.S. were restored prints of Leos Carax's Mauvais sang a.k.a The Night is Young (1986), starring Michel Piccoli, Juliette Binoche, and Denis Lavant, and Charles Lane's Sidewalk Stories (1989), starring Charles Lane, Nicole Alysia, and Tom Alpern. In 2014, Carlotta Films U.S. will also screen theatrically a new restoration of Leos Carax's Boy Meets Girl (1984), starring Denis Lavant, Mireille Perrier, and Carroll Brooks.
