According to new data released by the British Video Association (BVA), in 2013 Blu-ray sales increased 10% in the United Kingdom. More importantly, the data shows that the video entertainment market in the country is dominated by physical formats. Throughout the year, traditional and online retailers sold more than 162.2 million discs, representing a total of 73% of the country's video retail and rental sectors by value.
According to the same data,
Skyfall, the 23rd installment of the Bond series on screen, was the year's biggest seller on Blu-ray and DVD, with a total of 2.96m units sold.
Game of Thrones was the best-selling TV title.
