Nick (Broadbent) and Meg (Duncan), a married couple approaching 60, return to Paris to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with hopes of reigniting the spark in their relationship. Desperately clinging on to their marriage which has evidently gone stale in the past few years, they embark on a trip throughout the city visiting memorable landmarks and places of mutual interest, but with each of them also having their own reservations about the relationship, tensions build between the pair as the trip goes on. However, a chance meeting with an old friend (Goldblum) results in the couple being invited to a party at his fashionable new home, and after their run-in with the Parisian bourgeoisie they begin to appreciate the qualities that sparked their initial attraction to each other.
